man, I get that it would be irresponsible of you to tear into Emil over his FIDE tweet, but god damn he deserves it for making such a dumb statement.
Does he think that the FIDE name is some perpetual growth machine? Creating and hosting a tournament doesn't attract viewers out of thin air, literally any tournament or event organizer could tell you this. It's completely shameless from him to think people are dumb enough to believe that lie. Of course chesscom are also bluffing by attributing growth to that Magnus acquisition, but man I am shocked that more viewers/chess fans aren't ripping into Emil over that.

Look at Disney plus launch. Unlimited money amd theor servers couldn't handle.launch day. A giant influx of new players is a double edged sword. Its great for chess and for the company but being online based it has to be able to manage that. Ideally we all want to play together but they may have to go the Mmorpg route and have to add servers for the players to choose to play on .
The bad news is that costs money, the good news is you gotta spend money to make it. So it's a good problem to have and a sound investment for the company……. in this current market.
What happens when all these new players Peter out and stop playing. A bunch of money invested in to new servers that start to lose players as rapidly as it gained them could really hurt a company
Right now they are faces with what may be a fad influx in traffic and we all know fads come and go. So they need to proceed cautiously and not over extend financially to quickly. Slowly invest and fix the problem and see where things are actually headingn
I think.the best answer is new servers that are shifted based on your ranking . Since players are separated from playing together based on rank anyways .

for me the reason to come back to chess after about 10 yrs were the Hikaru clips from his streams.
Now in Poland, in my class EVERYONE talks about chess. When I was on the Warsaw Metro, 3 out of 10 people were playing chess ATM.

As someone who is studying the impact of digital media currently, I would greatly appreciate it if your content continues to remain primarily educational for those who enjoy it. (Although obviously entertainment value is important too). My greatest fear for this channel is for it to become too obsessed with influencer culture and manipulation.

Mittens definitely did it for me😆 i've had the app on my phone for over a year but kinda stopped playing until over the holidays I decided to try and teach my little sister chess, she obviously liked the Mittens bot and it seemed very weak. So you can imagine the frustration I had while trying to teach her and always getting destroyed by Mittens🤣 then I looked it up on youtube and got addicted to it again
