It's a neat idea, the randomness of the opponent's configuration means a couple setups would probably be viable. I think pawns should be limited to 1 movement regardless of position. The pawn mass would generally be strong but if the opponent spreads their pawns out more then they'll have more columns open for pass pawns and could potentially dominate the endgame so it's an interesting tradeoff.
